Independent label: Champagne
Records was run by long time servant to the music business Dave McAleer.
Dave had a relentless ability to quickly pick up for release on Champagne,
tracks that had just been released either on small UK independent labels or the
hot imports of the day that were either in demand, or likely to be. Some older,
still sought after material, also featured on the label. The main focus of
Champagne was jazz funk, soul, disco, and high energy. Another divsion of
Champagne existed, this being "E.D.M Champagne" which targeted interesting
alternative synth pop/futurist acts. Assumably the initials may have been a
reference to it's material, Electronic Dance Music. Both labels were distributed
by CBS Records.
