Composition Records was a DIY Reggae
label. Formed by Robbie Robinson. It managed one single. It issued singles in
CR-400 numerical series. Distributed By Jet Star Records. Robbie King
Robinson Real Name: Emanuel Robinson. Robbie King Robinson was born Emanuel
Robinson in Saint Elizabeth, Jamaica 1939 . Both parents were farmers. He came
to England in 1962 and recorded his first 45rpm single in 1963, entitled
“Jonah”, which was recorded at Tin Pan Alley Studio, in Denmark Street (off
Charing Cross Road) London. Robbie began to play the Hammond organ in 1969,
having been inspired by such musicians as Jimmy Smith, Jimmy McGriff, Jack
McDuff and Richard Groovy Holmes. Robbie was featured playing piano on the music
video “Crazy”, by the band Hot House ( who are now known as M People) Robbie has
his own label. Composition records and Composition music publishing. In Robbie’s
last days he’s health started to deteriorate. He suffered with diabetes, high
blood pressure & weight issues. Which led to he’s kidneys failing & him
having to go on dialysis three times a week at hospital for the last few years
of his life.
