Direct Records a label run by The Direct Hits. Short-lived during the mid 1980s and related to Direct Tapes. Re-launched as independent label that releases CD's from its own music library of 80's Mod, Pop, Psychedelia and Great British Beat. Related to Blaamm! Records. It managed one single. It issued singles in POP-0 numerical series. Direct Records Former Address: 204 Tooting Bec Road, Tooting, London SW17 8BN. The Direct Hits were formed in Battersea /Tooting Wandsworth, and released their first single MODESTY BLAISE on Whaamm Records. After releasing another single and an album BLOW UP in the Autumn of 1984 they were heavily ensconsed in the mod revival, then morphed slightly toward pyschedelia with the release of their second album.THE HOUSE OF SECRETS on their own label, FORBIDDEN RECORDS. Then another single appeared SHE REALLY DIDNT CARE followed by rave reviews in the indie press. after three tours of Germany, the band finally split, after making their last appearance at the Mod Aid concert at Walthamstow town hall.
