Independent label: 4th & B'way Records (spelled out completely as Fourth and Broadway Records in the UK). Fourth & Broadway Records was the UK Club-Dance sub label of Island Records UK based at their HQ 22 St. Peter's Sq. Hammersmith West London. The label was launched in 1981 and followed in the same vain as Phonogram's Club label, Polydor's Steppin' Out/Boiling Point sub labels. Polygram's FFRR and Ffrreedom labels, Chrysalis' Cooltempo sub label. . 4th & B'way was shut down in 1998, shortly after Chris Blackwell left Island Records, and before the merger of the PolyGram and MCA label families that became Universal Music Group. 4th & B'way's remaining hip hop artists would be transferred to Def Jam Recordings.
