Independent label: Highway Records Former
Address: 6a Astwood Bank, Redditch, Worcestershire B96 6LX. The label was
founded by the Zollman family; J.J. Zollman, B. Zollman, Dave Cartwright and M.
N. Lock. Eventually going on to be run by John Zollman who, during his
management of the label picked up the rights to the Bill Leader companies
Trailer & Leader, as a consequence of bankruptcy. As a result they continued
to issue some good sellers from the Leader stable such as Nic Jones and Dick
Gaughan. Eventually, Highway too went bankrupt and the totality of their
recordings and licences were bought up by the Celtic Music organisation, which
was run by Dave Bulmer, a former accordionist and accompanist to John Doonan,
the flautist from Tyneside.Silly Wizzard This Scottish band was formed in 1972
in Edinburgh by Gordon Jones (guitar/mandolin), Bob Thomas(guitar), and Chris
Pritchard(vocals). Pritchard left within a matter of months and was replaced by
Johnny Cunningham (fiddle/mandolin), and Madelaine Taylor (vocals, guitar,
bodhrán, spoons). the band recorded ‘Take The High Road’, the original theme
