HIT
RECORDS
Independent Diy label: Hit was owned and run by
Punk band The Cannibals. During the ten years of its existence,
1978-87, it released approximately eight singles by them. Numbering was
generally in an F-UK-0 series; F-UK-1 appeared on Big Cock Records. Freebee 1
Record features the same 2 tracks on each side. No sleeve. This is a very
Limited pressing given out August 24th 1982 at Dingwalls, London a music venue
in Camden Town, London. "It was recorded in one take, August 8th 1982. The
Cannibals are a British rock band formed in 1976 by Mike Spenser, formerly of
The Count Bishops. Distributed By Backs (Norwich) and Cartel. Snot 1 Record
was released under the moniker "Five Young Cannibals" and was (jokingly)
released on London'sHit Records (really Hit Records). In 1986 one of the biggest
pop bands in UK were "The Fine Young Cannibals" and were heavily exposed in the
press. Mike Spenser was very annoyed at this band taking a name closely
associated with his own and this release was intended to upset and annoy both
"The Fine Young Cannibals" - and their label "London Records" (hence the play on
the label name).
