RECORDS
Lofty Records was a DIY label of Don Estelle. It
managed four singles. It issued singles in an SLR-100 numerical
series. Don Estelle started his own recording company and Lofty Records.
Don Estelle, all 4ft 9in of him, sprang to fame as 'Lofty' in the hit 1970s
television show 'It Ain't Half Hot Mum' and enjoyed many other television roles,
including on 'Coronation Street' and 'Dad's Army'. Mr Estelle, who lived in
Rochdale, also enjoyed major success as a singer, the highlight of which was a
number one hit 'Whispering Grass' with fellow TV star, Windsor Davies. He died
in Rochdale Infirmary on 2 August 2003 and was buried in Rochdale, with the
oversized pith helmet he wore as Gunner "Lofty" Sugden. Distributed By Lofty
