Independent label: Metropolis Records was a Electro label from the 80s and a label and music publisher with strong connections with Rusty Egan (Blitz clubbing scene, Visage).
As a label, Metropolis was initially distributed by Island in the UK (WIPxxxx catalogue numbers) and co-releasing with Carrere in France and in the UK from 1983 (CAR / CARTxxx catalogue numbers). As a music publisher, Metropolis is also credited for the repertoire of Soft Cell (Marc Almond, Dave Ball), acts produced by Egan or his associates (eg. Steve Barnacle) and artists from labels such as Celluloid that were licensed by Metropolis in the UK. Metropolis is often credited together with Warner Bros. Music Ltd. or variations.
