Independent label: Martin Newell (born 4 March 1953), also known as "the Wild Man of Wivenhoe", is an English rock musician, singer, guitarist, songwriter, poet and author. In the summer of 1973, a 20-year old Newell joined the glam-rock band Plod as their lead singer. After Plod broke up, Newell briefly considered accepting an invitation to audition for the proto-punk group London SS, but decided against it.
