OLDGOLD
RECORDS
Independent label: Bonus single from the 15 disc
boxed set. Lightning Records started out as an importer and distributor of
Oldies; the 'Old Gold' label was an extension of that business. In
1978 the company began licensing records and issuing them on the Old Gold label,
with a LIG-9000 catalogue series. The numbering series changed to
OG-9000 in 1979; 1982 saw a revamp of the design - other changes were to follow,
over the years. Singles came out in any number of musical styles and
at an astonishing rate: OG-9800 was reached in 1988. The label was
still going, well into the CD era. Distributed By Virgin.
