Outlaw Records was a DIY label. Not one which owed its existence to the Punk movement. Rock band Strife had been with Chrysalis Records from 1974 to 1976; when their contract expired they put out a single, 'School' (OUT-001; 3/77) on their own Outlaw label, distributed by Virgin. The single earned them a second chance at fame and fortune when it was picked up by EMI and reissued (as INT-534; 7/77). The following year they made an album for the Gull label, 'Back To Thunder' (GULP-1029). Strife was a Blues-based British hard rock trio who formed in 1972. The band - John Reid (vocals, guitar), Gordon Rowley (bass, vocals) and David Williams (drums, vocals). Despite King's hopes, Outlaw didn't develop as a record label; it seems to have concentrated on its main lines of business instead. It did eventually manage a second single, 'Outside Looking In' b/w 'Women In Love' by John Dark (JD-01), but that didn't surface until 1984.
