Barbara Roy Real Name: Barbara Gaskins An American vocalist. Born: Kinston,
North Carolina, USA. Barbara Roy was the lead vocalist and a principal
songwriter in the group Ecstasy, Passion & Pain. She started with her niece
in a singing duo, Barbara And Brenda, then played guitar for Inez and Charlie
Foxx (“Mockingbird”) and on various recording sessions in New York until joining
Ecstasy, Passion & Pain in 1973. From 1977 to 1981 Barbara continued with
session work. She recorded some solo singles in the mid-1980s, and was in the
supergroup Togetherness in 1989. Since then, her vocals have been sampled in
various dance tracks. She is Aunt to Brenda Gaskins, and Jocelyn Brown. Ecstasy,
Passion & Pain was a 1970s disco band. founded by Barbara Roy in New York in
1972. Roy was the only fixed member of the group for as long as they existed and
responsible for writing most of the group's songs as well as taking care of
finances and business. The group was disbanded in 1977 after the release of
"Passion" and "Dance the Night Away" failed to match the success on "Touch and
Go".
