SQUAWK
RECORDS
Independent label: Peter Mensch's Vertigo
affiliated rock label Squawk. Unfortunately, IQ's liaison with Squawk would not
be the path to
success that many predicted. Squawk's distribution deal with
the giant Phonogram label had IQ dealing once more with people who had
previously rejected the band. IQ was a Southampton based Progressive Rock act
dating back to 1981 founded by Mike Holmes and Martin Orford in 1981 following
the dissolution of their original band The Lens. From 1982, the line-up
consisted of Peter Nicholls (vocals), Mike Holmes (guitar), Martin Orford
(keyboards), Paul Cook (drums), and Tim Esau (bass). Nicholls left in July 1985
to form a new band, Niadem's Ghost, and was replaced by Paul (P. L.) Menel.
Squawk Records used Vertigo VER cat number series. Distributed By
Phonogram.
