Independent label: Wing Records was a subsidiary of Mercury Records that enjoyed its greatest initial success during the mid-1950s, mostly with vocalist Nick Noble. It released singles briefly in 1955 and 1956 but focus quickly shifted to LPs. In 1987, under Mercury president Ed Eckstein, Wing was revived as an R&B label and had successes with Vanessa Williams, Tony! Toni! Toné! and Brian McKnight. The label was deactivated in 1995 and its remaining artists (by then only Williams and McKnight) were transferred to parent label Mercury. Distributed By Polydor Records.
