BB
RECORDS
Independent
Reggae label: BB Records managed at least two singles in the 80s by Ann &
Sonia. The first single From My Heart was released on the BB Record label when
the sisters were teenagers. It was quickly followed up by the single Hey Little
Boy. They are the daughters of producer/singer Bill Campbell and the nieces of
Reggae/Soca singer Pete Campbell. They Won British Reggae Industry Awards in
1987 for Best Reggae Newcomer Award. It issued singles in BB and
BBS-200 numerical series. BB was a Reggae label, owned by Bill Campbell and
Barbara 'Ginger' Williams. BB issued around 30 singles in the period 1976
to 1978, it seems to have concentrated on 12" singles, until it
disappeared in the mid '80s. Many of its records were Bill Campbell
productions. In the late '70s and early '80s it had a stablemate in the
Union label which again featured many of productions by Bill Campbell or by
members of his family. There would appear to be a connection to the Jumbo
label as well. Distributed By EMI / Jetstar Records.
