Label formed by the British roots reggae band Misty In
Roots. Sublabel: People Unite Publications Ltd. A
musicians' co-operative; mainly a vehicle for Reggae band Misty In Roots, though
it did put out one single by Punk band The Ruts, 'In A Rut' (RUT-1;
6/79). People Unite issued singles infrequently from 1978 until at
least 1988, sometimes in 12" form. Initially they were numbered in
the SJP-700s - a numerical series belonging to Stuart Johnson's 'Clubland'
company - but this soon was replaced by variations on the
PU-000s. Distributed By Nine Mile, Cartel and Jet
Star.
