Independent label from the Republic of Ireland: Release Records was Founded in 1968 by Mick Clerkin, Jimmy Magee and Dermot Hegarty. Others involved at various times: Michael O'Riordan, Strongly associated with showbands and the Country & Irish explosion of the mid-1970s, The early releases (circa 1969-70) had a London address printed on the label (Release, 388 Old Street, London EC1V 9LT) but it's the same label. The label logo underwent a number of design changes before settling on the familiar logo showing a hand making the 'OK' gesture, of which there are 2 main variants.. Mick Clerkin later founded Ritz Records. All these Golden Irish Favourites releases, are reissues that came out in the early 82. The (P) date on the label is the year of the original release.This is not even a label but a series of reissue singles issued by Release Records of Ireland.
